Wayne Messick, business to business CEO peer group facilitator and business coach For well over two decades, I've helped successful family businesses develop an atmosphere of shared goals and address the challenges characteristically faced when they are planning for the future of their business - beyond the current managing generation.

My post-graduate education and experience combines the skills of dynamic inquiry, family business dynamics, organizational and process consulting, facilitation and business coach training.

The result was a unique combination that permitted me to help business owners effectively address the predictable challenges that regularly block their road to long term success.

I helped them identify what's important to the entire organization and the motivations of each party, uncovering the most urgent and most leverageable issues along the way.

    My extensive industry experience and working knowledge of how business people interact with each other allowed me to add value to my clients situation without duplicating the roles played by their managers and advisors. I often helped my clients and their advisors develop potential scenarios to determine their next steps.

My role, as a neutral third party, is to promote open collaboration among the existing advisors and the entire family - in order to establish an integrated approach to planning for the organization's future.

The most important lesson I learned as a life-long consultant to management is that the success of an engagement always hinged on the client's willingness to change. So, if I was going to do a good job I had to sure I could get them to change - something rarely easy.

After all they had been successful, got to where they are right now, doing it their way. For many the old adage, "if it ain't broke..." was their mantra.

Experience demonstrated that for change to be real and long lasting people have to change themselves! It became clear that change was only sustainable if it was their decision. It was more effective for them when they could work things out for themselves.

    So now I just help business owners ask themselves the hard questions. What's important, what's their motivation, what's possible, and what actions have the greatest leverage?

And I've begun creating the tools they need to develop strategies for the future for themselves. These tools are resources you can use to leverage the relationships and experiences of your peers to create a sustainable process for continual growth.

In the mid-1980's I co-authored the first of three books about management, relationships, and success for family businesses. A book that is quoted in publications and college curriculums to this very day.

In 2006 I made the "Doing It Right, realizing your company's potential", the first interactive do-it-yourself strategic planning toolkit and consultant-in-print that we had published in 2003, available to everyone at no charge.

In early 2007, based on a decade of active participation and research, I created a do-it-yourself peer group report containing all of the what to, why to, and how to details for creating and managing your own process for growth - along with your peers.

These are the same tools I am using as a professional CEO peer group facilitator and coach. The same resources, without the cost and without the middleman.

My peer group tool kit, Do It Yourself Strategic Planning is delivered as a PDF file and the additional resources are sent to you via email so I kept it cheap enough for everybody!
