Industry Experience
I have worked exclusively with multiple generation privately held and family owned companies during my entire career.
Extensive research conducted in preparation for a series of programs at New York University formally confirmed what I had already believed.
Seventy-five percent of my clients over a thirty year period ending in April 2006 were part of these three general
industry categories.
These are areas where I spent over three decades working alongside owners to solve problems and create practical solutions for re-designing their companies for continued success in the 21st. Century.
Ninety percent of these companies have fewer than 10 owners, are twenty years old or older, and have at least two members of the successor generation in place today.
The other twenty-five percent are independent professional solution providers. These individuals, such as financial planners, real estate professionals, and lawyers participate in peer groups that I facilitate.
As a believer in the peer group process I no longer accept individual clients, instead offering my services to small groups of business owners willing to collaborate together to create advocacy and advisory groups for each other. I facilitate Strategic Conversations peer groups whose members own businesses in these three industry groups.
Wholesale and Retail Distribution
Hardware and Building Products Companies, Outdoor Power Equipment Industry, and Wholesalers to the trades, are examples of businesses ideally positioned to consolidate their territories, expand their distribution networks, and solve channel conflicts -by using my insights as well as those of their peers constructively. Intense competition from online vertical networks and their traditional rivals makes taking action now, of critical importance to them.
Manufacturing and Packaging
In the competitive atmosphere of today, "seamless" integration of the technology, shared goals, and effective communications are crucial. They are ingredients vital for survival. In this industry, some mistakes the business can absorb. But not taking advantage of the opportunities to "get everybody on the same page together" to get a leg up on their competitors, is one that will absorb the business.
Agriculture
Farmers,Ranchers, and Fruit & Vegetable Growers facing the challenge of
"Passing Down the Farm, in the 21st. Century" can use the power of the Strategic Conversations, without the interference of outsiders to determine what's important to their future, and then create their own process for effective communications that will help them manage their differences together.
Agri Businesses such as Seed, Feed, and Fertilizer Companies, are key ingredients in the lives of hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people. They now have access to the resources and opportunities previously available only to 'in-town' companies, to impact the lives of everyone they touch.
I would be happy to speak with you at no charge and with no obligation whatsoever to help you make an informed business decision about a Strategic Conversations facilitated peer group or the self-directed do-it-yourself peer group process.
I have very limited availability for facilitated peer groups so there will most likely be a waiting period before beginning yours. Or I can recommend one of my very experienced colleagues.
Give me a call. It its not for you, there is no charge!
All the best!
